One of the more common things we hear is – “Who should I see? A chiro? A physio? A massage therapist? I’m actually not sure what it is I need.”
The great thing about Pinnacle Spine & Sports is that in many ways, it doesn’t really matter who you see for your first visit. Each of our practitioners know what the others specialise in, and so even if you see a chiropractor, and your issue is more of a massage thing, then they’ll point you in that direction.
As a general rule, however (and remember this is a very broad generalisation), these are the sort of things each of our practitioners would probably be the first port of call for:
- Chiropractor: anything spine-related (lower or mid back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatic pain, etc)
- Physiotherapist: acute peripheral injuries (ankle sprains, knee pain) or muscle tears/injuries, women’s health & pregnancy-related issues (during pregnancy and post-partum)
- Massage Therapist: Post-exercise muscle tension/soreness or generalised muscular stiffness
- Pilates: best for strengthening & conditioning, as well as rehabilitation for spinal pain but only once the injury has fully cleared
Of course, there is a lot of cross-over between what each of our practitioners treat, and so you don’t strictly need to only see a chiro if your back hurts – a physio or a massage therapist can help with that too. And if you’ve got knee or shoulder pain, it’s not only a physio who can help with that, chiro or massage will be able to help too. And if your particular problem would be more suited to a different practitioner at our clinic then we’ll tell you that right from the outset after your first visit.
